You know what they say– your smile is the first thing people notice about you. I know that I have always wanted and strived to have pearly whites. When I was in high school, I remember always having the Crest White Strips on, and my teeth were definitely white, but I couldn’t eat anything cold because of how sensitive the strips made them. These days, I mainly get lazy and don’t do the treatments I need to do on them to keep them as white as possible. Although lately, I have been trying extra hard to make sure that I maintain pearly whites (safely) and I thought that I would share with you all my routine in doing so. I hope that you enjoy!
The Strawberry and Baking Soda Technique
This technique may shock some of you, but the results are amazing! Who knew strawberries could whiten your teeth? I didn’t until not long ago! What you do is crush 1 strawberry and put around 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda in a bowl with the strawberry and mix both together. You then brush it on your teeth with a soft bristle brush (the one in the picture is from Quip) and leave it on for around three minutes.
How does it work? I’m sure we all know by now that baking soda can be used in so many different beauty hacks, and teeth whitening is definitely one of them. It works great in this recipe because it reduces acidity in the mouth. Strawberries actually contain malic acid, which is a natural enamel whitener. Make sure to only use this method once a week because the acid can be damaging to your enamel if you use it too much.
I received this little guy in the latest box from Petit Vour and I was ecstatic. I have been seeing everywhere online how charcoal is supposed to be a miracle worker at whitening your teeth. I had my doubts about it, so I never bothered to go to the store and buy some. Also, the pictures of the charcoal applied on teeth looked very unpleasant lol! After doing some research, I learned that it was actually safe after all. The website says that the natural and organic ingredients of this whitening powder safely lift stains and toxins from teeth while simultaneously strengthening, remineralizing, and reversing sensitivity. That sounds about perfect to me. The ingredients consist of Wildcrafted Activated Coconut Shell Charcoal, All Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay, Certified Organic Mint, Certified Organic Orange Peel, and Certified Organic Frankincense.
How to Use
I use a damp toothbrush and dip the ends of the bristles barely into the pot. I then brush my teeth for around two minutes. Trust me, you will be kind of freaked out at how your mouth looks the first time, I know I was! When I am done with that, I like to go in with my favorite natural toothpaste and brush gently to remove any left behind residue. The website does say that the extra step is unnecessary, so you don’t have to. I honestly noticed an immediate difference when using this the first time and have noticed even better results the more I use it.
If you have sensitive teeth, but want them to be white, you have to try this whitening charcoal powder out! The full size of this powder is $36
I know that my teeth aren’t quite where I want them to be, but they are well on their way! If any of you have any recipes, tips, or products that you use to whiten your teeth, I would love to hear them in the comments below!
Have a lovely day, everyone.
