Wedding Planning Update + My Tips!

Hello again, everyone! I am so excited for today’s post because I can officially let you all in on some finalized details for our wedding! Our big day is only 109 days away, which is insane! I am beyond excited for all of the celebrations to begin. We will be getting married at OHEKA Castle in New York. This is absolutely my dream venue, but one that I never thought possible. When we did some research online, we just knew that it would be entirely too expensive, but when we found out having our wedding on a week day instead of a weekend would be more than half the price of a weekend date, our minds were made up. 😉 The day of the week didn’t matter to us that much since it will be a destination wedding, so it worked out perfectly.

The price we paid for OHEKA includes tables, chairs, catering (SO MUCH FOOD), and the wedding cake as well. SO much has already been taken care of by securing the venue! Also, the staff at OHEKA are the kindest people and are so willing to work with you whether it be on your budget, or just the wedding day details. We are renting the castle for two nights and will have the 30 hotel rooms in the castle filled with family and friends. I truly believe we are going to have the best time and I can’t WAIT to celebrate with everyone we love. I know that our incredible photographer, Donny Zavala, will document the important time perfectly.

Finding and securing your venue is always the #1 priority especially if you are getting married in a “peak” time like the Fall. One tip that I have is to research possible venues and vendors on There are lots of websites you can research vendors on, but WeddingWire has proven to be the most helpful for me throughout my wedding planning process! Not only can you find reviews on venues in your desired area, but you can research photographers, bakeries, florists, create a wedding website, work on seating charts, and figure your budget all in one website. You can also customize snapchat filters for all of your wedding activities, which I will DEFINITELY be using. As you can imagine, it is an incredible website to have access to, and I’m very thankful I didn’t have to plan my wedding before the days of technology. 😉

The next tip I have is all about Pinterest. I believe that Pinterest can be a major blessing and it can also be a curse. It has definitely raised every girl’s expectations about what their future wedding day will look like, but of course it can be such a helpful tool as well. I have two wedding boards that I pin to (of course I keep them secret ;)). I have a general wedding ideas board and then a “Finalized Wedding” board that contains pictures of the floral arrangements that I want, my dress, my bridesmaid dresses, bouquets, and more.

When I met with my lovely wedding planner, Cortney of Linen + Rust Event Design, I was so relieved to have all of my important pictures in one place, and it made our meeting go so smooth. She is the sweetest person you will ever find, and caught my vision immediately. I want our day to be French inspired with a unique touch, and she understood perfectly. Having a wedding planner has already lifted a huge load off of our backs and I know it was the right decision.
